WAY TO GO BLUE AND PEARL!
This is "Blue's" Sixth Best of Breed at Crufts,
what a huge accomplishment and his 50th Best of Breed.
Countess Huntingdon writes -
"It was a truly great honour to be
judging at Crufts. The first Australian Cattle Dog walked into my
life in Australia in January 1983 and I would never dreamt I would be
standing judging a breed I have grown to love so much many years later.
The dogs presented to me were almost without exception in good hard
condition as a working dog should be and apart from one or two showed
themselves with enthusiasm which is not always easy for a breed who
would rather be living the life on a property a million miles from
Birmingham! I would like to thank all the exhibitors for entering
their dogs under me and I must say that I felt the young bitches and
dogs gave me a real feel that we all have a great deal to look forward
to in the future...you can see variations in the different kennel lines,
they all have qualities to contribute to our breed whether it be a
strong head, movement, structure or colour. Temperaments without
exception seem to be really good even though the natural wariness of the
breed shows itself from time to time. |

Crufts - March 2005
- Judge Countess of Huntingdon
BOB - Curdeleon Blue the Boy Wunda
BOS -Yaapeet Jody Blue Yarraman
Best Puppy - Austmans Ground Control
 | Special Junior Dog - 2 Entries
 | First Place - Am. Ch. Silver
Aurora's PW Tom Thumb (IMP)
 | Athletic red Dog 15 months: good colour and angulation,
moved out very well, still immature and could do with a bit more
condition but a dog that I am sure will develop tremendously in
time. |
|
 | Second Place - Austmans Ground
Control - Best Puppy
 | Blue dog of 12 months: strong masculine head, great
expression, dark colour coat, moved well, carries tail a bit
high on the move but a very good prospect and pushed the winner
very hard, however not quite the fluid movement of the first.
I look forward to watching his career develop. |
|
|
 | Post Graduate Dog - 6 Entry
 | First Place - Yarraman the
Booroo- RBD
 | Impressive blue dog of 2 years: moved effortlessly
round the ring. Could do with a slightly better turn on
stifle but the overall picture was one of a sound dog who could
do the job for which he was bred. He has a really good
length of neck and level top line and was presented very well.
Reserve Best Dog. |
|
 | Second Place - Curdeleon Blue
Andante at Kayval
 | Striking blue dog of 3 years: carrying a little too
much condition, moved well but seemed a little anxious, again he
is a dog I have always admired particularly his wonderful coat
colour and excellent head and markings. |
|
 | Third Place - Surlson Swampy
 | Charming red dog of nearly 2 years: good bone,
colour, excellent red speckle, masculine head, dips over his
back on the move but I think he is still a dog who has some more
growing to do, very well presented. |
|
 | Reserve - Morrow Diamond
Dreaming |
 | VHC - Yarraman the Anzac |
|
 | Open Dog - 4 Entries (1 Absent)
 | First Place - Curdeleon Blue
the Boy Wunda - BOB & BD
 | A really good specimen of the breed and so much has been
written about him before. He moves with drive and purpose
he is so sound and so correct and it was a pleasure to award him
his 50th BOB. |
|
 | Second Place - Yaapeet blue
Creamer Yarraman
 | Good blue Dog of 5 years: showed very well, lovely
expression, good angulations in front slightly too straight
behind, good colour and very pleasing expression but carried a
little too much condition, moved with purpose and drive. |
|
 | Third Place - Garregddu Red
Adare
 | Large red dog of 6 years, looked exceptionally well with
alert expression, shown very well. Top of the standard for
size but well constructed dog with good bone, in hard muscular
condition and moved out very well. Not as typey as first
two. |
|
|
 | Special Junior Bitch - 2 Entries
 | First Place - Austmans Upsy
Daisy at Tiborkie
 | Rather fine blue Bitch of 15 months, attractive feminine
head, good angles, level top line, good feet. Moved very well
and will make up into a good bitch in time. |
|
 | Second Place - Austmans Divine
Blue at Angelark
 | A 12 month old blue Bitch, good angulation in front
slightly straight behind but will develop further in time. |
|
|
 | Post Graduate Bitch - 7 Entries (1 Absent)
 | First Place - Yaapeet Jody
Blue Yarraman - BB
 | Very typey blue Bitch of 5 years: good shoulder,
length of neck and level top line. Moved with drive and
was a pleasure to watch. |
|
 | Second Place - Surlson Sheelah
to Ranpura
 | Delightful and very well made bitch of 2 years, great
head, colour and expression, moved well and will be a bitch that
will continue to develop. One I am looking forward to
seeing again as she matures. |
|
 | Third Place -
Morrow Red Chakola CDEX
UDEX
 | Well shown 5
year old red bitch who has a really alert expression, slightly
long cast, good length of neck. She was in hard condition
and it was great to see a bitch in the ring with so many working
titles. She really could do the job for which she was
bred. |

well. Pushed the BB very hard. |
|
 | Second Place -
VDH Ch Eye of Blue Spirit
 | Attractive blue
bitch of 2 years from Germany, good type, dark colour but did
not show to her true advantage as she was slightly nervous.
She had a good head and top line and moved out well, there was a

made the journey |
