Thank you to the Kennel Club for this prestigious invitation and to my Stewards, Anne Baker and Jean Bates, a pleasure to work with. Thanks of course, to the exhibitors who presented well-mannered nice dogs. Interesting to see some overseas dogs although one I liked appeared rather over-awed by the whole event and did not show to best advantage.

I feel that there are still not enough dogs with correct angulation both in shoulder and stifle. Better hind angulation might also improve the breadth and development of the thigh. Although most dogs were sound, there were too many moving more like terriers, with a short step that did not convey endurance.

Veteran D (2) 1st Wild’s Curdeleon Blue Andante at Kayval, just over 7 years, blue, correct proportions, carrying some weight, moved out well. 2nd Wright’s Warrigal Blue Boulder at Coright, 10 year old blue, top for size, rather longer in body than ideal, showing his age on movement. Special Puppy D (1) 1st and BP Hayles Angelarc Gulara, looking younger than his 14 months, super character, so happy! Promising head and expression, good colour, neat feet, good proportions, has a lot of filling out and maturing to do. Special Junior D (2) I found this class ridiculously hard to judge as I like both dogs for different reasons but 1st Guy and Gray’s Jahanghirs G’Day Mate, good red, compact, balanced, good proportions, carrying a bit more weight but still looking like he could work, typical cattledog. 2nd Jebson’s Austmans Cor Blimey, a very different type to 1, blue, rangier, rather longer in body, expression good but head planes not as correct as 1, moved out with reach but not the appearance of strength. I will watch his development with interest. Post Graduate D (3) 1st Chetwynd’s Curdeleon Ned Kelly, blue, very dark, he has excellent balance and angulation, good bone, very sound on the move. 2nd Jebson’s Ramelia Magnetic Blue with Austmans, electric blue! Super colour and coat, nicely put together but dipped on the move. Limit D (5) 1st and DCC Carruthers Yarraman the Booroo ShCOM, blue, mature dog in excellent condition, well put together, good head shape and expression, moved out with power. 2nd Cartwright & Burdett’s Tarilly Access All Areas at Drenoss, blue, strong male head, correct overall but not the movement of 1. Open D (7, 1ab) 1st and RDCC Chetwynd’s Warrigal Blue Swagman at Curdeleon, well up to size blue, good head and expression, long in body, balanced tail carriage, excellent movement. 2nd Digby’s Yaapeet Blue Dreamer Yarraman, another good blue in super condition belying his nearly 9 yrs. Just like a bit more angulation, well balanced. KCGC D (2) 1st Carruther’s Yarraman the Booroo ShCOM. 2nd Wright’s Warrigal Blue Boulder at Coright.
Special Junior B (1) Gray & Guy’s Jahanghirs Red Oktoba, good red, seemed a bit stressed in the ring, great head and expression, think she has some maturing to do, very promising. Post Graduate B (6, 3ab) 1st Slaven & Wilkie’s Yarraman Star Sapphire at Dartbrook, big blue in excellent condition but carrying a bit too much weight. Balanced but needs better angulation. 2nd Gray & Guy’s Austmans I’m No Angel at Jahanghir, smaller bitch, moved out well. Limit B (4, 2 abs) 1st and BCC and BOB, Wright’s Yarraman Dare to Rock at Coright, excellent blue bitch, top quality. Lovely head and expression, balanced front and hindquarters joined with correct topline giving free flowing movement. Put together well and moved well. 2nd Haynes’ Surlson Sweetpea, good blue, feminine head, pleasing overall picture, showed well. Open B (7, 2 abs) 1st and RBCC Digby’s Ch.Warrigal Munyah Blue Yarraman, very correct in size, proportion, balance, angulation, expression, colour, just showing her age a little. 2nd Hayle’s Austmans Divine Blue at Angelarc, good blue, correct head, good front. KCGC B (3, 1abs) 1st Wright’s Yarraman Dare to Rock at Coright. 2nd Slaven & Wilkie’s Yarraman Star Sapphire at Dartbrook.
